Alcohol harm reduction advocates are calling for an end
to alcohol advertisers writing the rules around advertising.
Strong statutory standards on alcohol advertising are being
demanded following research published today in the New
Zealand Medical Journal.

protecting our children and vulnerable people from harmful,
ubiquitous alcohol advertising should not be delegated to
alcohol advertisers. Regulatory standards are long
overdue. The science is clear that voluntary codes
do not work. Codes are deliberately vague, focus on content
of individual ads, and do nothing to address the saturation
Prayagraj: A joint team of Utrav police and special operation group (SOG) on Thursday arrested two members of an inter-state racket involved in liquor smuggling and seized 285 cartons of illegal liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 20 lakh and a SUV near Raheempatti village on Prayagraj-Varanasi highway. The consignment of illegal liquor was being brought from Haryana for smuggling.
The arrested persons were identified as Amit and Vishal Kashyap, both residents of Chandigarh.
Police said SOG got a tip off about the racket involved in smuggling of liquor from Haryana to UP and Bihar states and cordoned the highway road near Raheemapatti when the racketeers were planning to smuggle liquor to eastern UP districts and Bihar border. A case has been registered in this connection.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 Heineken Malaysia Berhad posted a net profit of RM154 million for its 2020 financial year ending December 31, down 50.7 per cent year-on-year.
It said its revenue declined 24 per cent to RM1.76 billion versus RM2.32 billion in the previous year, citing the movement control order (MCO) that forced the temporary closure of its local brewery operations.
Heineken said it was able to mitigate some of the effects of the MCO through the cost-saving measures it implemented.
